All types of business benefit from the use of custom fields such as a bed & breakfast establishment, tour operators, bike rentals shops, and many others. The reason is because this tool can be used to define their own fields and give the ability to further customize their booking system to meet the distinct needs of the business.
One of the ways to use Custom Fields is if you need to acquire additional information from your customers, such as hotel location, height/weight requirements, or pick up/drop off location.
In addition to information gathering, you can also use custom fields to sell complementary services and products which will increase your revenue per reservation. These types of add-ons could include a spa package or a bouquet of flowers for a bed & breakfast stay, lunch baskets or helmets for a bike rental, or an audio headset for a city tour. Custom Fields allows you to add a price for each extra item, give your customers the option to choose it at checkout, and automatically add to the total price of the reservation.
Another great reason to include these add on features in the reservation is to give the business the opportunity to properly prepare for each customer’s arrival. Businesses will know in advance how many extras such as helmets or audio sets are needed and will to have everything ready for each upcoming reservation. To a customer, this translates into top notch service and an enhanced experience. To a business, this means repeat customers and more earning potential.
You can set up a custom field in WebReserv in 4 easy steps:
1. Go to Setup – Custom Fields.
2. Choose Custom Field type – for additional purchases, choose the List option.
3. Enter the information about the additional service or product in the Edit Custom Field page including Name, Description, and Price (in the Options section). Save your changes.
4. Associate the Custom Field with your products/inventory. Go to Setup – Products & Reservation Rules – [select a product to edit] – Customer Information.
That is it! You have successfully created a value added custom field in the WebReserv system.
